We condemn the terroristic attack in Iran!
On June 7, 2017 Iranian people became the victim of a horrible terroristic act as a few gunman and suicide bombers attacked Majles (Parliament) and the mausoleum of the founder of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini killing 17 people and injuring more than 40.
The Union for Secular Republic and Human Rights in Iran condemns this heinous act and sends its condolences to the families of the victims.
Reports indicate the attackers were Iranians who had joined Islamic States in Iraq and Syria.
Back in March of 2017, ISIS had threatened to step up recruitments within the country and threatened to “conquer Iran and restore it to the Sunni nation as it was before.
Unfortunately the policies of the Islamic Republic both internally and externally made recruitment more easily; internally the discriminatory policies of the state towards religious minorities and externally by its involvement in the affairs of regional countries such as Iraq, Syria, Yemen and elsewhere.
Although it should be noted Iranian people from different political thought, life style, religion and ethnicity are united against terrorism and resist against any security threat towards the nation and country.
We believe an effective deterrence against barbaric action and plan of ISIS and similar groups in Iran requires a change to the disastrous policies of Iran government internally and regionally, otherwise Iran may face additional attacks in the future.
At the same time, reducing regional tension must be taken in the account and ask every state in the Middle East and the globe to fight non-conditionally with terrorism in any shape and avoid using it as a leverage in pursing the political interests.
