Our organization, the Union for Secular Republic and Human Rights in Iran, is concerned with your potential decision to veto the bill proposed by U.S. Rep. Bruce Poliquin that would force the U.S. to disclose financial information on top Iranian officials. The policy towards Iran deal as well as attempts to deescalate tensions between the two nations was a positive approach and beneficial to both countries interests that resulted in the final agreement. But the issue of human rights and transparency should be decoupled from the nuclear deal. Regrettably we disagree with your current position!
We believe transparency to its own people is one sign of a respected government. Something the authorities in the Islamic Republic of Iran are foreign to. Whether it was its nuclear activities or their finances. Corruption amongst the elites in the Islamic Republic of Iran is rampant.
We should respect the right of the Iranian People to know. And as such we urge you not to take this action to deprive them of the truth.
